Nourishing Our Student Body

When families returned to The Episcopal School in the fall of 2011, they found a place that is an active friend of the environment and an innovator in the school lunch business.  ESK has implemented a farm-to-table dining concept that incorporates the school’s dedication to actively teach students to become environmentally friendly consumers while providing healthy, chemical-free food. Our school lunch provider, Flik Dining Service, shares this philosophy.

WEEKLY LUNCH MENU

Menus are created on the ESK campus, specifically designed for our dining facility and our community’s needs. Vegan and vegetarian offerings are always available and menus reflect seasonal changes. Parents and students are welcome to tour the foodservice facility and their suggestions are encouraged.

A Nutrition Specialist is available to review menus, consult on disordered eating habits, provide nutrition education and assist communities that need to become more aware of particular dietary concerns such as allergies, celiac disease and food sensitivities.

Daily menu choices include a hot bar as well as a salad and sandwich bar.  For example, a day’s offerings might include: Spaghetti with meat or tomato sauce; Homemade butternut squash soup; Salad Bar: fresh romaine and spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, chick peas, homemade dressings; Sandwich Bar: Homemade bread, turkey, cheese, peanut butter, jelly; fresh fruit.
