Middle School Learning Center

The Middle School Learning Center strives to provide a positive learning environment
that promotes student self-advocacy, develops a keen sense of executive functioning skills,
and establishes a lifelong love of learning.

Transitions can be difficult, especially the transition from Lower to Middle School. The Learning Center provides additional support to students in a small community learning environment. The small class size provides a safe environment for students to practice executive functioning strategies, build social-emotional skills, and strengthen academic concepts.

Executive Functioning Skills help to improve student engagement,
self-regulation, behavior, and study skills. The Learning Center helps students with organizational skills, time management, working memory, and task completion.

Students have support in their core academic classes with pre-teaching and reteaching skills as well as study and test-taking skills. The teachers in the Learning Center help the students break down concepts, assignments, and long-term projects into smaller pieces that are easier to understand, and are more manageable.

Individual Care Plans (ICP) that include accommodations are written for qualifying students. Care Plans are shared with the teachers to help support students in core and elective classrooms. The ICPs are reviewed and updated annually or as needed.

To maintain our commitment to highly personalized support, enrollment in the ESK Learning Center is limited. Availability fluctuates based on the specific needs of our current student body; please note that these specialized services are structured as a tuition supplement within the enrollment contract.
