The mission of The Episcopal School of Knoxville is to prepare JK-8 students for higher education and a lifetime of learning within the context of a loving, inclusive and family-centered community. We enrich our students’ intellectual, physical, cultural and spiritual growth so that they may realize their potential as children of God and citizens of the world.

What is the ESK difference?

Families at ESK often tell us that one of the most valuable aspects of an ESK education is the attention given to each individual child. Our small student-teacher ratio and close-knit, family-like atmosphere ensure that every student is known not just as a learner, but as a unique member of our community. Parents appreciate the school’s strong focus on values and character development, from the Tribes Agreements and daily chapel to community service and structured guidance classes. With 96 acres of campus, we are also able to offer rich outdoor learning experiences that give students opportunities they simply couldn’t have elsewhere.

Family-Centered Community

Our teachers are highly educated. Because of the low student-to-teacher ratio, our teachers are able to get to know your child as more than a student, but as a member of the community.

Our Campus & Facilities

The Episcopal School of Knoxville is situated on a 96-acre wooded campus overlooking the Great Smoky Mountains. The campus features spacious, well-appointed buildings for its JK3-8 classes and excellent facilities for sports and extracurricular activities.

Magnificent vistas are a part of each day. Natural areas for frequent outdoor studies include undeveloped forests and meadowland, hiking trails, a stream, natural springs and a grove where children sometimes even cut Christmas trees for their classroom.

Sports Facilities

Our athletic facilities include the Kline Gymnasium, featuring full-sized basketball and volleyball courts, a playing field for soccer and football, and a cross-country loop known as one of the most challenging in the city. Opened in 2017, the Siler Athletic Center adds a high school regulation-size gymnasium, state-of-the-art locker rooms, coaches’ offices, a concession stand, and a spirit store. Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, we are also excited to introduce four regulation-size tennis courts located just behind our Middle School.

Secor Hall

Features a 25,000 square foot facility that holds band and chorus rooms with separate rehearsal spaces, two art rooms, and a 21st-century innovation lab with computers a 3-D printer.

Siler Athletic Center

Features a high school regulation-size gymnasium, which is home to ESK’s basketball and volleyball teams.

Googe Hall

22,000-square-foot Middle School building, houses Siler Great Room, the Middle School library, dining hall, and a fully-equipped computer lab and media center.

School Security

At The Episcopal School of Knoxville, the safety of your children is of utmost importance to us. Since the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary, the Head of School and the Board of Trustees have spent considerable time reviewing security at ESK, speaking with experts in the field, and ensuring that appropriate campus safety measures are in place.

A security officer is on campus from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each school day. Our desire is to have our security guards accepted as members of our campus community. He is present at both morning and afternoon carpool times, as well as during daily chapel services. He knows our students and our children know him.
