Community Service

Community service at ESKAll students participate in community service; various community service projects include preparing and serving meals at the Volunteer Ministry Center and Ronald McDonald House, collecting Christmas presents for Montgomery Village, collecting food for Second Harvest and Hams for the Hungry, participating in environmental work at the Turkey Creek Wetlands and Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont, collecting toys for the Holiday Bureau, creating a tree at the Fantasy of Trees, and offering mural artwork and choral presentations at the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center.

We truly believe we can make a difference in the lives of our students by fostering a love of servanthood in the heart and mind of each child who passes through these doors. To this end, Episcopal is committed to outreach and our Service-Based Learning Curriculum. Each student is encouraged to discover what talents he or she has that is unique and special to offer the world...and to make a difference. Our emphasis is on community and the sharing of one’s gifts and talents. Students are involved in a wide variety of community service projects, both locally and world-wide. In addition to nurturing a spirit of servanthood in each child, we incorporate our service projects into our curriculum in order to offer a true Service-Based Learning Curriculum. The service learning curriculum includes:

  • Planning and preparation by the students
  • Service projects that are meaningful, academically related, and developmentally appropriate
  • Reflection about the service through journal writing, discussion, art, or presentations
