The Episcopal School of Knoxville is an independent, co-educational school which offers academic excellence and character training to students in grades Kindergarten-8. The Episcopal School offers an interdisciplinary curriculum; interscholastic activities such as Youth Legislature, Model United Nations, National History Day, and Destination Imagination; performing and fine arts; foreign languages; and a full, inclusive athletic program. All students participate in community service; various community service projects include preparing and serving meals at the Volunteer Ministry Center and Ronald McDonald House, collecting Christmas presents for Montgomery Village, collecting food for Second Harvest and Hams for the Hungry, participating in environmental work at the Turkey Creek Wetlands and Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont, collecting toys for the Holiday Bureau, creating a tree at the Fantasy of Trees, and offering mural artwork and choral presentations at the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center.
Daily Chapel
Students and teachers in grades K-5 attend chapel at 8:15 a.m. Middle School students and teachers attend chapel at 9:45 a.m.
Technology
Each Lower School classroom has multiple computer stations and the Lower School Technology Laboratory has 20 stations. The Middle School has a dedicated Media Center featuring 20 new desktop computers loaded with the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, and a Mac Mini Lab. Other features include classrooms with Smart Boards, access to programs like Tech Wiki, a collaborative website, and movie-editing software. All Middle School students attend weekly technology classes. 3rd through 5th grade students have their own Netbooks.
Extended Care Programs
Extended Care from 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. is offered for grades K-8 in the KidZone programs
Outdoor Education/Off Campus Trips
All students will attend off campus "field trips" throughout the year. 5th through 8th graders participate in overnight, off-campus, outdoor education; these outdoor experiences include the Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont, Camp Cheerio and Kanuga Outdoor programs in North Carolina, and Camp Chandler in Alabama. Students also have the opportunity to visit Nashville; Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama; and Williamsburg, Virginia as part of their course of study.
