 The ability to use technology is a necessity in today's world of the global community. This is why technology is an integral part of education at The Episcopal School. Here one can find communications technology, desktop publishing and multimedia in every aspect of the way we communicate, conduct research, integrate imnformation, create reports, write papers, and make presentations.
To strengthen our curriculum and ensure the success of our students, we integrate technology into every classroom, beginning in Kindergarten, where our students learn to use the Internet and computer-based learning programs. All of our Lower School classrooms have student computers, as well as their own Computer Lab. By the time our students reach Middle School, they will have mastered keyboarding and learned the basics of word processing, multimedia presentations and Internet research.
In Middle School, our students are equipped with wireless laptops, where they not only will use technology in their everyday coursework, but will also take weekly technology classes. In addition to learning more advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet research, they will also learn to use their space on the school server and their emails on The Episcopal School network. By being on the Episcopal School network, students can easily store all of their work on the server, communicate with their peers and faculty members, and transfer their work electronically to their teachers.
In 7th and 8th grades, they move on to more multimedia-based projects, such as Web design, graphic design, digital video editing and production, and desktop publishing. They will also learn to operate peripheral computer equipment, such as digital cameras, digital video cameras and scanners.
