The purpose of the Outdoor Education program is to provide and create opportunities for Middle School students to enjoy the outdoors. Through on-campus education, as well as off campus experiences, the students learn experientially. The Episcopal School of Knoxville utilizes our 78 acre campus as a viable canvas for learning, while also taking advantage of our amazing National Parks and Forests in the area. The students are instructed in basic camping and backpacking skills that they will be able to use on our bi-annual campouts. The students also go on periodic day hikes on campus, that are led by an instructor that relays basic forestry and geology. The overall goal is to allow students the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate our amazing natural surroundings.
