About ESK
Our Campus and Facilities

teacher at ESK

The Episcopal School of Knoxville is situated on a 78-acre, wooded campus overlooking the Smoky Mountains. Nestled in a gracious design with room for a high school in the future, The Episcopal School campus now features state-of-the-art buildings for its K-8 classes, cottage classrooms, excellent facilities for sports, and magnificent vistas for children’s out-of-doors educational experiences. Key features of the campus include:

A physical plant that includes a spacious and well-equipped administration building with gymnasium and dining hall; a new, 10,000 square-foot middle school with chapel and wireless environment; cottage classrooms for lower school with a 20-station computer lab and two computer stations in each classroom; a 10,000-volume, freestanding library; and a fine arts building for chorus and studio art classes.
Natural areas for frequent out-of-door studies include a nature trail, streams and a spring that are home to varied wildlife, undeveloped forests and meadowland; three working barns; and groves where children sometimes cut Christmas trees for their classrooms.

Sports facilities include a spacious gymnasium with full-size basketball and volleyball courts, a new playing field for soccer and football, a cross-country loop that is one of the most challenging in the city; and a new tennis court.
Many campus features are designed for out-of-doors time, such as an outdoor chapel, a science shack situated near the spring for water studies; and facilities in the barns to care for animals.

The campus provides excellent school security and safety. Visitors enter by a single driveway that winds up a hill past the Episcopal Diocese offices and leads directly to our administration building. Buildings and facilities are designed for maintenance of security. All teachers receive training for handling any kind of emergency situation.
